Foreign body

Top view
Detection of a foreign body under the lid or on the product surface. Recognized by a different hue or a particular shape, revealed by illumination down to 4/100ths of a millimeter.
Seal defect

Top view
Sealing defects are numerous: presence of product in the sealing bead, sealing defects, chimneys. The AI learns from the specific characteristics of each one.
Side defect

Side view
Marking, indentation, opacification. Highlighted when the tray is scanned by lighting.
Filling defect

Side view
Presence of product on the outside of the tray. The AI must learn to recognize different views in the image.
Optical features
How to ensure good visibility of defects
Plastic lid: transparency, non-planarity, brilliance. Characteristics that require special lighting.
Tray: sometimes tilted. Some defects not visible from above.
Food: variable color. The arrival of a new color, very different from the previous ones, will require a learning phase.
Optical integration
360° tray inspection
After filling and sealing the tray.
Top view with grazing light for defects on the lid.
360° side view with 4 cameras for defects on the body of the tray.
Adapt the lighting height and move the camera if the workstation has to handle very different tray heights.
Control of multiple defects, at a rate of 10 products per second, with Psycle Assistant Production (PAP).

TIPS
Traceability & continuous improvement
Given the great variability of defects that can appear on this type of product, it is important to trace 100% of inspections in order to take targeted corrective action.
The history of inspection cycles and the breakdown of defects by type, film reference, product reference, etc. are all available on the Psycle Quality Assistant platform.
